Tongits Rules & Basic Gameplay

The Setup

Tongits is played by exactly 3 players using a standard 52-card deck. The dealer distributes 12 cards to each of the two non-dealer players and 13 cards to the dealer. The remaining cards form the draw pile in the centre.

Taking Your Turn

On your turn, you draw one card from the pile. You may then lay down any melds (sets of 3–4 same-rank cards, or runs of 3+ consecutive cards in the same suit). End your turn by discarding one card to the discard pile.

Melding & Sapaw

You can add cards (sapaw) to existing melds on the table — your own or your opponents'. This is a key tactic for reducing your hand points quickly. Cards melded on the table no longer count against your total hand value.

Winning the Round

You win by "Tongits" — playing all your cards when the draw pile runs out. Alternatively, you can call "Fight" or "Draw" to end the game early if you believe you have the lowest hand total. The player with the lowest unmelded card points at showdown wins the round.

Scoring & Payouts

Face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10 points each. Aces are 1 point. Number cards are face value. At game end, the winner collects the pot from the other two players based on the agreed buy-in level set before the game starts on JillGames.
